In 2014, Seattle Public Utilities closed 35th NE next to the Meadowbrook Community Center. Since reopening January 2015, a new bridge over Thornton Creek (south branch) has been completed. Restoring a natural environment on both sides of the bridge will reduce flooding and create a healthy salmon environment. Removal of several homes as well as planting of native habitat on the east side of bridge will make for a good future for this urban creek system. Meadowbrook Community CARE is committed to the water system moving around and near Seattle Park’s Meadowbrook Community Center.
