This past May, community of NE Seattle held their shelter meal for the residents at Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. On the same Sunday, I spent the afternoon harvesting lettuce at the Meadowbrook Community Garden to be donated to the Lake City Food Bank.
As a MC2 contact, I had just received a request by the shelter meal planners to use a harvest for their meal plan from the church shelter garden. No problem.
Earlier in the day, church members held a plant sale from starts at the Meadowbrook Community Garden. Most had sold and it was the second such successful event this season.
Connecting community. Working together. A good thing.
