In Lake City resides the community-focused and deliciously hard working Kaffeeklatsch Bakery. Owner Annette knows fresh bake goods and a strong community is a good business model.
The German bakery is a city center, of sorts. People appreciate the commitment being made ‘fresh’ daily.
Kaffeeklatsch also hosts MC2’s LCHP giving tree and is also a LCHP collection site for the holiday gift project.
As an advocate for a healthy, safe and productive community, Annette also participates in the community-building campaign, Lake City Future First (lakecityfuturefirst.org).
The visioning of LCFF parallels the ‘on the ground’ good work of Kaffeeklatsch.
When visiting Kaffeeklatsch, a patron can view a mini art gallery, join a knitting group, grab a board game to play, donate to the food bank or send the Tots to the children’s play area. A lot packed in this yummy, caffeinated community hotspot.
Recently Annette added a international cause to her offerings. With family ties to the African continent, she has adopted the support of a Rhino farm preserve to her menu. Located in Namibia, Annette has offered gingerbread Rhino cookies to her menu. Purchasing a delicious ‘rhino’ cookie highlights a worthwhile effort and funds going directly to the farm.
This holiday season Annette recently teamed up with MC2’S Lake City After School Program. The Rhino treats were stuffed into envelopes, with the Kaffeeklatsch story of support printed on the outside. The gingerbread cookies were then given as holiday treats to after school students of Olympic Hills Elementary School.
Awareness around environmental care, sharing in an educational format and embracing the local traditions of giving highlights the expanding culture of care at Annette’s Kaffeeklatsch Bakery. Check out the ‘klatsch’; baking and sharing community goodness to all. Visit Help our Rhinos Now on Facebook
