In the Fall of 2015 the Lake City After School Project welcomed not only a new student but a guest of this country. As a Taiwanese girl visiting this country for the first time, our new student at Olympic Hills had many opportunities to learn. Turns out, the universal language all children speak, ‘play!” helped with the transition too. Our guest also shared with many of us what her country was like. A full circle of learning. On this day, a request for recess break snack, ‘cupcakes’, helped all transition to school life without our Taiwanese friend. We enjoyed the learning time together. Safe travels, Sophie.
