Two programs (LCASP and LCHP) briefly merged this 2016 when MC2 worked with Olympic Hills Elementary to support families in need during the holiday season. The Lake City Holiday Project reached out to the schools Principal (Stacy Crum, pictured) to gauge interest and need. As a reality, the opportunity was great and a dynamic that needed to be addressed.
Adding school families to the database was set up and forms were filled out. Insuring that the children were helped was the primary goal. MC2 hopes to work again next year with Olympic Hills Elementary and also add Seattle Parks / Magnuson Community Center to effort.
Bringing normalcy and opportunity to all students is part of the goal of LCHP. Although the idea is simple (holiday gifts for kids in need) it does translate to family support during a stressful and hopefully, happy time of year.
