Meadowbrook Community CARE (MC2) has a 10 year history under its proverbial ‘belt’ and the work gets more exciting each season. Whether we are tutoring youth at school, accessing holiday support for families, growing in the gardens, working to shelter our neighbors or welcoming students to serve in the community, these efforts build awareness and community around basic needs to support, educate and engage those most in need.
This ten year growth of outreach has enabled MC2 to expand our Board of Directors. One of the most recent additions is Mark Mendez, a Meadowbrook Teen Life Center Recreation Leader with Seattle Parks. We look forward to his guidance in supporting youth in need throughout our programming. Engaging those in need during the holiday season, working in the community gardens and orchards or lifting up our youth in their journey, this addition to MC2 gets more of us engaged.
This last May, Mr. Mendez promoted a recent Photographers Exhibit by one of his Nathan Hale HS students. The student, Abi, has found a passion and the community responded. Engaging the Teens through mural art has also realized 3 different sites in Lake City where their community support has blossomed in color, form and message. There are many other projects advocated for by Mark and MC2 is excited to support him and we want to grow together ‘success’ for all of our community. Thanks Mark and good work Abi.
