MC2 Board member Lee Lacroix stepped up and spelled some community garden relief time for Community Garden steward, Sue M this past September. The visit highlighted some serious harvest time’ by volunteers and since it was a Labor Day weekend, a light crew. Managing volunteers and scheduling is a challenging task; with a large Orchard site and a very compact Community Garden space, consistency highlights how seven years of production have come together. Many committed volunteers have made their service matter.
On this day, potatoes were the main focus. Tomatoes, blueberries and eggplant were also part of the harvest. A potluck usually follows Sunday outings and is a good time to check in with the neighbors. Delivery to the food bank in Lake City happens on Mondays. MC2 Board member Lee also supports MC2’s Community Shelter Meals and the local Tool Library. Not bored.
