As the halfway point in the school year approaches, MC2 would like to share a look at the new leadership at Olympic Hills Elementary (OHE). Just to catch up, the Lake City District school site was scheduled for demo two years ago. With that building process now complete, students and parents can now enjoy a clean slate. Fresh paint, new windows, new playground and play structures also welcome patient families who’ve had to accommodate new routes to school, new start times at school and this year, a new Principal. Ms. Libby Debell comes to OHE via Whitman College, and a Masters at Harvard University. Her studies definitely are a plus for the community.
Born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, she also worked in Highline School District and also taught on the Eastside, prior to her commitment here. Teachers and staff start early in the morning. With the new beginnings and fresh start, Olympic Hills is fortunate to count on the commitment and history of Ms. Debell. As a working mom and a Northend homeowner, her challenges, vision and support will serve our school community well. The season of ‘thanks’ extends out to all the teachers and staff at Olympic Hill. Having a dedicated professional at the top of the leadership creates a lot good energy and hope for the future.
