NEW Operations @ LCCC

The Lake City Community Center welcomed newly appointed staff beginning this past January 2, 2018. Long anticipated City staffing of Seattle Parks property in Lake City has been a goal of many local activists.  The Coordinator for Seattle Parks at Lake City is TomiJo McCarrier. Originally staffed at Ballard Community Center, she brings along former Meadowbrook Teen Center staffer (and MC2 Board member, viewed Left) Mark Mendez and Amy Voros (Right/Pictured).

Ms. McCarrier lives in the Lake City District and also is a working Mom. Having Mark build on the Lake City Teen projects and engagement already happening in the neighborhood, along with some immediate program development for families with children will be the start.  She describes this as a listening period where scaled up program development will be in response to community needs and developed interests.

Prior to the January start for city staffing, upgrades and remodeling have been in the works. New doors, bathrooms and access issues have made up most of the punch list.  Outside (contractors) programming will continue so as to gauge how those offerings may be part of the future itinerary. Many thanks to all the advocates for intentional resource designation. Welcome TomiJo, Mark and Amy to Lake City and her many neighbors.
