Back in September a local mom reached out to MC2 to plug her child into the project at Meadowbrook Community Gardens and Orchards. Her son attends a Waldorf School at Whidbey Island during the week. Scheduling her son’s interest into the work and goal of MCGO was a perfect fit.
Her husband and son would spend one day a week at the site for three weeks. It was a good match; his school encouraged projects such as these and a documentation piece also got everyone on the same page. The Seattle Parks site hosts large and small groups. University’s, local companies, civic groups and small groups such as these keep the park humming.
This effort was localized in the Edible Hedge, along NE 105th. A new trail has just been completed, so the results highlight the entrance and the new bee box, also recently installed. A welcome and successful project and we thank all the students out there who reach out to create a better neighborhood.
