February 10 was the first day of the Lake City After School Project. Tutors and students worked well together, had good success and at the end of the day, there were smiles all around. Located at the Lake City Community Center, the tutor-student program mentors kids from grade 4 to grade 8. It is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and also offers recreational opportunities and snacks as a part of the program.
Focused on improving English language skills, the effort uses laptops to interact between student and tutor. The schools participating with Meadowbrook Community CARE at this time is Olympic Hills Elementary, Jane Addams K-8 School and the Seattle World School.
