Welcome to Denali-Advanced Integrations on United Way’s Day of Caring this past September. This Redmond WA high tech firm didn’t just show up. The group knocked out 3 large mulch piles in the East Orchard and Edible Hedge. The East Orchard benefited from a good winter cover as well as continuing the upgrade along the sidewalk, next to the East Orchard.
Additionally, the Apple Orchard and Edible Hedge also got some needed maintenance. The Winter-Spring comes quick and the years and years of soil improvements also give weeds a head start so the Fall United Way campaign can not come at a better time.
At the beginning of any group visit, the history of the Meadowbrook Orchard site is shared. Many years ago, as the story goes, an oil company (Time Oil) purchased the 7 acre site and established a 9 hole golf course. So, to celebrate and reinforce that history, a brief skill effort of Frisbee Golf was offered to volunteers. See the pics; fun indeed but practice, practice.
