Partners for CARE

In Meadowbrook, the Seattle Parks sited MCGO, covers  a lot of ground. MCGO consists of neighbors working together, in community. From seed starts, to planting, watering, weeding, harvest and lastly, delivery to those most in need. This community project works because so many understand the need and strategic resource this open space provides.

With short term cessation of Covid-related civic, business and university service support at MCGO (work parties), the ‘little’ engine that could has stepped forward. Enter Waldorf Schools. Three days a week for an hour a day, the hustle and bustle of the different age groups all the way up to and through high school have had a great impact at the Orchard.

MC2 wanted to acknowledge the commitment made by students and the school. Two large boxes of local organic apples were donated to LCC to highlight work and need. This gesture acknowledges the food security aspect of care and the community need to embrace and welcome, when and where able, those needing a hand up.

The benefactor, Lake City Collective (LCC)(, as self described, ‘is a minority-led, nonprofit organization that supports families and individuals (to) remain in the community they choose to live, work or do business where the feel heard, respected, safe, successful and surrounded by a clean and healthy environment.’ Self-care is at work here with this worthwhile organization. This is great to know and work with, together.

The partnership to support food security and awareness around our new neighbors, keeps us strong and able to react when needed. We appreciate all the effort and commitment made by Waldorf Schools. Small steps and big ideas. Thanks!
