It’s a Village at MCGO

Tap your toes to the disco rock of Village People? Relate to the socio-political concept of ‘it takes a village’? At Sundays weekly seasonal MCGO garden party, taking care of business engages Meadowbrook neighbors of all ages, with the local food bank joining the fun with a weekly onsite volunteer harvest pickup.

Community service with a smile? You bet. With a weekly 2 hour commitment, the season hums along with many hands making ‘light’ work. This past end of season results revealed the sights (zinnia row and multi colored tomatoes), sounds (young and old working together) and smells (basil) of garden humming along.

A usual ‘end of the day’ potluck adds to the experience with a ‘harvest’ spread that rewards and pays forward the gift of time, energy and care for the other. Seattle Parks supports this campaign with land and water, neighbors do the rest. Thank you! It’s a village, people!
