Since 1996, the shelter has worked with SHARE (Seattle Housing and Resource Effort) to house up to 20 co-ed residents nightly at the Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Meadowbrook. At the church the residents have access to a hygiene center with showers, washer/dryer, cooking facilities, some storage, and a safe, warm, and dry place to sleep. Meadowbrook Community Care works with the church on meal and material support along with advocacy for affordable housing in Seattle. When conditions warrant, such as particularly cold spells or during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to support full-time, 24-hr/day emergency housing.
Participate: Sign up for a day to deliver groceries or a meal to the SHARE shelter. Have an interest in advocating for other shelter needs? Let us know. Examples: towel drive, sock drive or hygiene supply drive, let us know!
